Book Review: Mad River by John Sandford

A good Virgil Flowers story, but not the best one I’ve read. Mad River had all of the usual Sandford bells and whistles but somehow failed to deliver the usual Sandford afterglow.

Overall an ok read. I’ll keep a copy on the shelf and re-read it someday.

Book Review: Blue Gold by Clive Cussler

 

The best description for Blue Gold would be ‘Dirk Pitt light’. A very easy read, ok action, the standard array of plotlines that all come together near the end for an underwhelming finale.

A solid “Meh”.

Waiting for Spring

I don’t usually remember my dreams, but this morning was different. Last night I dreamt I was on a beach helping a group of kids catch fish with a great big net. I was tanned and much slimmer. I remember the feeling of the sand, the smell of the ocean, everything.

And a younger Burt Reynolds was there, being a bad-ass. Weird.

 Good dream, though.

Today’s high is a sweet 28 degrees. I can’t wait for spring. Maybe there will a beach run in 2013.
